  • Creating Mark

    So, in case it wasn't clear, Mark is a mailman who can visit different worlds, even if he himself has no idea how it works. I had the idea of a multi-dimensional mailman character because I wanted my ocs to be able to send letters to everyone else's!

    His last name and the idea of him having worked in a dead letter office is based on a short story by Herman Melville, called "Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street".

    There is also more to Mark than what I've put down; originally, I had a page called "Interference" that would have a drawing hinting at what was going on with him, but it proved to be too complicated and it meant the page would stay incomplete until I was done. Not to mention, there is a lot I'm still trying to figure out. So instead, it'll be revealed through rp.

    Also I had to update the art signatures as they linked back to some accounts I'd rather forget about. :'D

  • Tone/style

    Mark is a bit strange in that, while he does have a bit of horror and sad stuff going for him, his weirder delivery requests also mean the rp can get pretty silly. I really like silly though! The best rps are a nice mix of both funny and dramatic, after all.

    My rp style focuses a lot on dialogue, body-language, actions and reactions, and I'm not particularly descriptive unless it's a setting or object the character will react to and will need to interact with. I also do better when someone else is leading an rp, but if I lead, expect a brainstorm session.

    Please note I'm still a baby in forum rp. I can do both asterisk and paragraph rp, and a weird combination of both. Here's a short example:

    "*It did not take long for him to start shifting his feet, his shoulders hunched. There was a sheepish tap at his glasses, before replying.* I-I'm not entirely sure."

    ....Okay so that was terrible, but you get the picture. Basically paragraph rp except shorter and the actions are between asterisks. But yeah, otherwise, I mostly rp through your typical paragraph rps! I write between 2-4 smallish paragraphs and I will always try my best to give you something to work with.

    On the subject of dice and tabletop rules: I have had a few dnd sessions before, but never Dm'd. Honestly, I would prefer not to create another dnd character as I prefer a more freeform/improv style, but we can use dice or a number generator to decide how bad a situation is.

    Also, please keep in mind Mark is a very passive and reserved character, and like any character he needs some prompting in order to properly interact! (Also he isn't the only one here who's painfully shy and awkward. >u>")

    Finally: I'm not someone who rushes people for a reply, and I don't mind passive rps where the reply comes after a week or so. So please, don't rush me as well! I have a 9-5 job and my timezone means I will not always reply immediately after (for reference, my timezone is GMT +2). If you plan to take longer though, do let me know! Also like... you don’t need to only talk about rp. We can just chat until you figure out your next post. :’D
